Course Description: Approximately 300,000 adult deaths are attributable to obesity each year in the United States. Men who are overweight are a high-risk group for obesity-related chronic diseases. Men, however, are less likely to perceive themselves as overweight and thus are less likely to initiate weight loss through organized weight loss programs. The study implemented a weight loss program for obese and overweight men. Overall, the findings add to the literature of behavioral weight programs that are designed for men in addition to bolstering the evidence base for real-world application.
