Course Description: Smoking cessation during pregnancy and preventing relapse postpartum is a pivotal health priority. Smoking during pregnancy has detrimental health effects on women’s pregnancies as well as on infants’ and children’s physical health and cognitive and social development. The study examined the risk and protective indicators of women who smoke before pregnancy, and relapse postpartum. Researchers found that health care professionals can play an important role in addressing partners’ smoking and giving them evidence-based cessation support before, during, and after pregnancy.
