The researchers compared five helping professions, social workers, psychologists, counselors, marriage and family therapists, and nurses, to identify their thoughts and behaviors about integrating client's religion or spirituality (RS) in clinical practice. The researchers surveyed 550 helping professionals in Texas utilizing the Religious/Spiritually Integrated Practice Assessment Scale and background questions. The helping professionals responded moderately positively, and RS did not differ, although there were differences regarding self-efficacy, perceived feasibility, and behaviors. The study benefits helping professionals who are working with RS clients to integrate RS in their assessment. Additionally, the study points out the differences in RS training, self-efficacy, thoughts on feasibility, and implementation.
