Course Description: Homeless people with severe mental illness (SMI) are susceptible to trauma exposures and other mental health consequences for various reasons. The researchers' purpose was to provide culturally sensitive interventions for identifying and treating trauma among India's SMI homeless population. The researchers conducted exercises and in-depth interviews with 26 survivors and found a discrepancy in how trauma was classified and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. The study benefits skilled professionals working with the SMI homeless population to be aware of the misdiagnosis of trauma.
