Course Description: Anxiety disorders are among the most commonly reported psychological issues in children. Anxiety can cause negative effects on a child’s ability to function and also leads to increased risk of psychopathology into adolescence and adulthood. The present study evaluates whether the clinical and economical outcomes of child anxiety disorder can be improved by adding treatment focused on addressing maternal anxiety. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) tactics are administered to mothers with the primary goal being to enhance mother-child relationships. Although the results show no significant benefit from maternal therapy, good outcomes are achieved by the children and their mothers alike. Findings also show another positive advantage could be seen in cost-effectiveness.
